So what you are saying is that if a high 1850+ rated experienced player logs in and the only person available is a 1400 rated player who is slow and whines about the luck of the dice, he should be forced to play this opponent and not have the option to battle it out with a world class opponent the bot? And somehow this would make GreedyGammon a "fun" place to play? Forcing someone to do something they don't want to do is never "fun" it is tyranny and I don't subscribe to that system. GreedyG bots will ALWAYS be available to play on GreedyGammon. No "and, if or but" about it.

If you like playing on GreedyGammon, you are welcome to invite your friends and play only human games. Its entirely up to you. :D

Sorry but you are wrong about this assertion. A bot only server would not be meaningless. How do you explain the intense competition to play the bots on FIBS. YOu have to be very quick to get a game there with a bot because someone is waiting to play them and will grab them before you get a chance to click play. These people who play bots on FIBS are well aware that there are plently of offline bots to play but they choose to compete on FIBS against the bots. The reason why is because of ratings. If you take away ratings then of course there is no difference between online and offline bot. But with ratings you are in effect competing against other players with the bot as proxy. When you climb to the top of the ratings list, you can measure your performance against the other players who play the bot. Also you may enjoy watching someone else play the bots and chat with them, something you cant do with offline bot

Is it a coincidence that after Gridgammon removed the bots everybody wants to join the Grid?

Actually I heard about the policy of removal of the GridGAmmon bots, from player "Othello" who stated that he likes playing bots and they were no longer available on GridGammon where he used to play so now he plays GreedyGammon bots :D

When I was playing backgammon on FIBS from 2000 - 2010 there WAS intense competition to play the bots. So much so that auto bot invitation features were build into the clients. If you did not use this feature to invite, your chance of getting a game would be zero as someone else would auto invite them faster than you could click play as soon as the match was over. I remember players would plead with those hogging the bots "please give someone else a chance to play" And eventually the bot authors implemented a time out feature so that the same player would not be able to instantly re invite the bot. This qualifes as "intense competition".
