Backgammon board not centered

I downloaded the latest version (3.19?) and when I load the program the board appears too low on my screen. Plus, there doesn't seem to be any way to close out the program without logging out of windows. Can you help? I did clear out the previous version (loaded a couple of years ago) and even the Greedygammon directory so that the installer could recreate it. I'd send you a screen shot if there were a way to do it, but it doesn't look like there is.

I am running Windows 10, by the way, if that helps.

Thanks

Hi Cary,

Thanks for reporting this bug.

Could you please tell me what your screen resolution size is.
Also can you let me know what happens here in the forum if you try to attach a picture
I did get your email with the pic attachment so I can see the problem.
I will try to resolve it for you immediately with an updated upload

cheers,

maareyes

Resolution is 3840 x 2160. As far as posting the screenshot, I figured out how to do that after I posted this, but it looks like the screenshot is too large -- at least that's the message I get when I try to attach it. I'm glad you were able to see it from my separate email.

Thanks again!

Thanks! I appreciate that. Must be a Windows 10 thing -- if I look at my settings it tells me that resolution is "recommended". It kind of surprises me that no one else has reported this issue.

Thanks for being so responsive.

to close the program, there should be a red X in the top right corner.
Clicking on it will close, and alternate click (right click) will minimize.

If it is not full screen I guess it could have the regular windows min max close buttons there.

Hi, just following up to see if this issue is in the process of being resolved. Also, I don't know if it because of the size of the .exe file or not, but I am unable to load the program at all now, even though initially it loaded with an off-center board.

Hi carysosm,

I just realized the hasty setup package i had uploaded for you, had the debug.txt feature disabled. It had been a while since I worked on it and forgot about that. It should be enabled now so please download the latest greedygammon_installer.exe (version 3.0.29) and if it generates a debug.txt in the GreedyG documents folder, post it here. Other than that, the only thing I can think of is to find greedygammon.exe in the program files folder where it is installed, right click it and open "properties" and tell windows to run as administrator and if possible maybe run in Windows 7 compatible mode. (if those options are available in Win-10)

Hope that helps,

maareyes

Hi,

Sorry but I'm not sure how to get at the link. Did you intend to post it?

Thanks again for your help. Once I download, I'll let you know how things go.

It is available from the home page http://greedygammon.com/download
Or from the forum downloads section here viewforum.php?f=61

Well, this time I was able to get the program to load the playing board, although the screen is still off center as we've talked about. I wonder if the fact that the debug.txt feature was disabled before was preventing me from loading?

Unfortunately, though, it appears that no debug.txt file was created. The program seems to be working OK, except for the board being too low on the screen as before.

Take a cellphone video of your desktop and show pulling up the properties that shows the width and height of the screen, then show on the video clicking the greedygammon game icon, loading the program and show in the video how everything looks. Then I can look further into it.

I sent you two files via separate email. the video is a little jerky but it illustrates what happens. The program seems to launch properly, but as you can see the board comes up too low. I also sent you a separate email with the screen specifications. I sent you the screen resolution separately, but lowering the resolution does no seem to prevent the board from appearing too low.

Hope this helps.

As you suggested I adjusted the resolution to 1920 x 1080, but no effect.

This is how it should look on 1440 left and 1920 right.
Something in your screen settings is off is it doesn't work on 1920*1080.
That is a hardware settings issue. I don't have first hand knowledge about it.

I found a situation that seems to replicate this bug. Maybe it will help. I will upload an update sometime today.

This issue was resolved by adjusting the app size scaling factor from screen preferences as per this Microsoft forum post

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/win ... 6a0757627c

After updating from windows 8 to windows 8.1 my screen resolution fell from 1920 x 1080 to 1536 x 864.
All my graphic card drivers are up to date. When I go into screen resolution the screen resolution is set to 1920 x 1080 whereas in reality it is 1536 x 864 as shown by Nvidia Geforce experience.
What should I do?
thanks

The simple solution is to go back to the screen resolution display change from right clicking on your desktop and select "Make Text and Other items smaller or larger" and set the scale from 125% to 100% and voila! Your GeForce Experience should now be set to 1080p
