Starting with GreedyGammon ver. 3.1.147 (March 25, 2023) current version of Gnu Backgammon, will be included in the main GreedyGammon download. You can launch the setup directly from within GreedyGammon preferences screen under the gnubg tab. This was done because the download file is difficult to find on the gnubg website and in any case, it is just more convenient for the the user not to have to go searching for it. The file gnubg_installer.exe can be launched from the GreedyGammon preferences gnubg tab.
Update The version of gnubg included with GreedyGammon will be 1.02. I like how it looks, never had it crash while the latest version 1.07 crashed on me and i didn't care much for the new interface. Looks to me like they went backwards in time and gave it a 1990s look?
Here is a screenshot of ver. 1.02 with custom board colors.
If you like it you can import this theme from this link
http://greedygammon.com/positions/gnubg ... _board.xml
To import, download the xml file and go to gnubg settings menu select "board appearance" find "import" button and point to the xml.
GreedyGammon will load your jf.mat match file into Gnu Backgammon and start the analysis for you. And will even minimize it so you can keep playing.
The new version of GreedyGammon 3.1.147 has also been updated to fix an issue with Windows 10 that apparently was processing the jf.mat file but not "shell" launching gnubg. I just found out about it when testing on the Windows 10 PC i just got a few days ago. The solution was to use a different "shell" command.
Update: Here are 3 separate links for download.
(gnubg download is ver. 1.02 for new version go to
https://www.gnu.org/software/gnubg/ and the download link is near the middle of the page. It starts with "To install it on Windowns..)
The 80 meg file includes both GreedyGammon and GnuBG. After you install GreedyGammon, you can launch the Gnubg installer from within GreedyGammon
